Brittany and Tyler are getting married in June and I can't wait for their wedding! They are such a sweet couple. Josh and I had a fabulous time getting to know them at their engagement shoot at Aly's Beach. Here are my favorites from their session! Enjoy!

Kristen & JD

Kristen and JD were married this past Saturday at Coleman Beach in Seaside, FL. They were joined by fifty of their closest friends and family, who celebrated with them on this special day. I met Kristen and JD in November for their engagement session, and I knew immediately how special their wedding was going to be. They both smile all the time and find joy in the little things. I am soooo happy for Kristen and JD and honored to be a part of their day.

Kristen had me cracking up the day of the wedding. After they had their first look with each other, JD said, "What about the kiss?" He realized they had not discussed what kiss they would do at the alter, and Kristen quickly said, "The Amanda Suanne Kiss". I was like what is that, LOL. She said, "Kiss and Hold, Kiss and Hold" I was laughing so hard. I shoot a lot so anytime I do a kiss shot I always got Kristen and JD to hold it for a long time and You know they LOVE it!!

These first few shots are of Kristen getting ready. Her Mom and sister joined her in her beachfront cottage. Kristen looked gorgeous!

I simple adore this ring! Isn't it beautiful?

This is Ryan the ring bearer. He was oh so adorable and a total ladies man! He asked one of the ladies at the reception to dance, and when he brought her to the floor he started breakdancing and spinning on the ground. It was priceless. I never knew he had those kind of moves in him.

Kristen and JD opted to see each other before the wedding. It was a special Moment. Kristen's face lit up when she saw him for the first time.

Nouveau Flowers did an amazing job on the flowers for the wedding. Isn't her bouquet beautiful Peonies are my favorite.

Townsend Catering did a fabulous job with the food and the cake....oh the cake....it was so delish thanks to Confections on the Coast. They do a fabulous job!!

Congrat's again Kristen and JD and have a fabulous time in Turks and Caicos!

A Look Behind the Scenes ....

Engagement Sessions are super fun to shoot and really help me get to know my clients. Sunday I had the pleasure of shooting Brittany and Tyler who drove 5 hours for their session! Joshua my amazing husband and who is also a fabulous wedding videographer came along to capture what it's like behind the scenes of an engagement shoot. Tina & Clay | Married

I had a fabulous time photographing my first wedding of 2010 on March 17th! It was so much fun! Tina and Clay choose the beautiful Seaside Chapel for the ceremony and had an intimate reception over at Fish Out of Water in WaterColor, FL. Tina looked absolutely radiant and Clay kept us laughing the whole day! Small intimate weddings are one of favorite types of weddings to shoot. It was so awesome getting to hear Tina and Clay's love story & getting to all meet the people who have influenced their lives. Here is a peak at their special day!! Congrats Tina and Clay!! Ashley and Lane | Engaged!

Ashley and Lane braved the FREEEZZZING cold for their engagement shoot a few weeks ago! We kept getting rained out of our first attempts of their engagement session, so when this beautiful (but cold) January day came, we took it and ran with it! They were troopers and looked oh-so-fabulous! They probably thought this pregnant lady was crazy in my big black boots, four layers of jackets, scarves and gloves - but hey, I had to keep my little baby wrapped up and warm :D

Ashley and Lane are getting married in April and I am so excited for their wedding - I even got to meet Ashley's mom Laine before the shoot - she even brought my sweet little Chloé a present! How sweet is that??? I have the best clients on the planet, hands down. The kindness and generosity of others blows me away. Ashley and Lane are THE sweetest things ever, and oh their dog maverick - he is the bomb! I love for clients to think outside the box and bring their pets or other things that show off their personality! Maverick kept us laughing - he likes to dig ! As soon as we went down to the beach he was digging holes everywhere. It was the cutest thing. EVER.

Anyways - here are my favorites from their Engagement Session - be prepared for awesomeness. Ashley and Lane KILLED it!

Kate and Chuck | Engaged

Josh and I had a blast getting to know Kate and Chuck during their engagement session. They are both from Austin, TX - He has a popular restaurant in downtown Austin called Moonshine & she is the president and founder of an awesome company called Betty Lash. Be sure to check it out!!

Kate and Chuck got engaged over Christmas and came down to Destin to start planning their June 12th wedding. I am very excited about capturing their wedding ! Here are some of my favorites from the shoot - it was so hard to narrow down, becuase I had so many favorites! I would say my first engagment session of 2010 was a success! Congratulations Kate and Chuck!!

Wow - There are no words to describe how wonderful & special 2009 was!! My Camera took me to California, Las Vegas, Arizona, Georgia, and all over the state of Florida. I was happy to be featured in The Knot Magazine, Gulf Coast Brides, VIE Magazine and all over the web.... It would not have been possible with out all of my fabulous clients who made my year extra special and who allowed me to do what I love to do best - photograph people! I am so excited for 2010! Get ready - great things are coming!

Thankful

I hope everybody is having a very Happy Thanksgiving. Josh and I are visiting my family in Jacksonville and have had a great time so far. On Monday, we had a 3D ultrasound and got to see our little baby's face for the first time - it was really special and amazing. Its wonderful what technology is able to do these days. The rest of our time here has been spent relaxing and of course checking out all the malls here in Jacksonville - lots of ground to cover!

This Thanksgiving I am so thankful for my family. My Husband is the most amazing thing in my world - He takes such great care of me and Chloé, he is so patient and kind, and he never stops loving me :) I am also so very thankful to have a healthy growing little baby girl who will be gracing us with her presence sooner than later! I am so thankful my little doggies that give me lots of kisses and make me feel happy :) I am thankful for my business and how much it has grown + for God's blessings and for continuing to keep my family safe and happy. I don't think there is anything more important than family and having I am so grateful to be blessed with such a wonderful one.

I hope that each of you have a happy thanksgiving and enjoy your time off to reflect and spend time with those people who mean the most to you. :) Love you always! xoxox

As soon as I walked in to meet Beth for the first time, I was immediately excited because I felt like I was walking into a room with old girlfriends! What first caught my eye was the pile of gorgeous shoes that Beth had bought for all of her bridesmaids!! Are they not fabulous?!?! I know if Beth and I lived closer together we would be great friends!!

Beth and Clay decided to see each other before their ceremony...which I absolutely love. We set up a private moment for them before the ceremony. It was very sweet and intimate :)

During the reception Clay surprised Beth with a trip to the US Virgin Islands. She was very excited as you can tell!!

Alli and Casey had a beautiful wedding this past Saturday in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. I was honored to capture their beautiful day!! Alli and I actually went to middle school and 1 year of high-school together, so it was great to see her and be there for the most special day in her life!

The details at this wedding were beautiful!!! One of my favorite companies to work with Celestines was to thank for that! The provided the catering, event setup, and the gorgeous flowers!!

One of my favorite moments of the day was Alli and Casey's first dance. He wrote a beautiful song that they danced to. Check out the slideshow below to hear the song and see more photos from there day. His voice will blow you away!!!!

I had the privilege of shooting at the Santa Rosa Beach Club two weeks in a row, and this week, it was for Natalie and Joe's Wedding. They got married down on the beach, and then celebrated in the beach club's restaurant. It was lots of fun!

When I first got the Natalie and Joe's Beach house, Joe was finishing up making the jewelry for the bridesmaids. Talk about talent! :) The jewelry turned out beautiful! I had so much fun with these two! Enjoy seeing a glimpse of there wedding day!

Ryan and Jennifer are getting married next May in the Seaside/Watercolor area so we decided to shoot their engagement pictures in Seaside! In February we are expecting our first baby and yesterday Josh and I went to to Doctor to find out that we are having a girl!!!! We are so very excited! Just wanted to share the good news!!

I was very excited when I was contacted by VIE Magazine who wanted to feature Cheryl and Jason's, Ashley and Matt's AND Michael and Jennifer's fabulous weddings!

I have always been a huge fan of the magazine...it is THE most well done publication in the area and I smile big each time a new black and white cover hits the stands! Here is a quote about the mag I grabbed off of their website, "VIE is a French word meaning “life” or “way of living.” VIE sets itself apart as a Northwest Florida regional, high-gloss publication focusing on human interest stories and celebrating the “people and places” of the region spanning Pensacola to Apalachicola – COLA 2 COLA. In addition to regional features, the magazine will include national stories on fashion, food and travel with a distribution of 20,000 copies.

Tara and JD | Married - Sarasota, FL

Tara and JD got married this past Friday on a beautiful sunny morning at the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota, FL. Tara and I had never met until her wedding day. but we hit it off right away and I was blown away at how beautiful she was, Inside and Out!! Tara and JD's ceremony was held on the Healing Garden Lawn and their ceremony followed with a lovely brunch at the Ca D'Zan Lounge. After the amazing ceremony and reception, we drove down to the beach at the Ritz Carlton Beach Club and took some fun pictures and we sure lucked out from the rain!! :) Enjoy looking at some of my favorites photos from their fabulous day!!

So this wedding is super special to me...it was the wedding of my beautiful Sister-In-Law, Jenny. I not only helped shoot parts of the wedding, but I was also a bridesmaid! I was so honored to stand up at the altar with her and participate in their marriage. Jenny and Ron are perfect for each other and we are so glad to welcome Ron to the family. They had a wonderful wedding weekend planned for all the guest, that included a fabulous pancake breakfast and we even got to get manicures and pedicures! It was lovely. They married in Gulf Shores Alabama and the day could not have been more perfect. Arizona- Day One

Josh and I had a great flight to Arizona on Thursday and today we just hung out and explored the city. We happened upon a cool little Ghost Town called Goldfield. It was fun! Josh decided that he wanted to do a tour of the mines and it probably was the scariest thing ever. As soon as we walk in, a bat flies toward my head and I dropped to my knees screaming. I was so embarrassed. Everyone on the tour was laughing at me. But seriously, what on earth would you do if you had a bat darting toward your head???? Then we took this "wooden box", that was an elevator that took you 400 feet below the ground. It was creepy, but we came out alive!! :) Anyways, Arizona is awesome besides it getting to about 113 degrees in the afternoon. Talk about HOT! We are so excited to shoot a wedding tomorrow and hopefully will be able to post some more images from our trip soon :) Enjoy my friends !!

The day after Ashley and Matt's incredible wedding, we headed out to Aly's and Rosemary Beach to do their Day After Session. I absolutely love when clients opt to do this. It gives an extra opportunity to get fabulous photos of the bride and groom :) Ashley and Matt are one of a kind and Josh and I felt so honored to capture them. I was so excited when my good buddy Leslie Roark contacted me to take some new photos of her with her fabulous new haircut!! She let me style her and pick out her outfits which was soo fun. I felt like Rachel Zoe for the day and it was awesome! Her dresses are from Francisca's and Private Gallery and her shoes are from Frock Candy at the Destin Commons. We shopped all morning, then had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants FIRE, and then started our fabulous shoot! Ashley and Matt had a very intimate beach wedding Tuesday at Henderson Beach State Park. It was one of the prettiest beach weddings I have ever seen! The colors were amazing, and the ceremony was beautiful. It made Josh and I fall in love all over again just being there!

Ashley and Matt are two incredible people, and I feel so honored to have captured their day. Ashley is so thoughtful and like Matt's father said at the reception, is even more beautiful on the inside then on the out! She was even so thoughtful to bring this book lover a gift! It was so sweet!! :)

I have had such a wonderful time getting to know these two, and I'm glad that I have two new friends who are amazingly beautiful on the inside and out. I met Jennifer through her sister Jami. Jami works at Santa Rosa Beach Club, and since I moved to Destin, have become good friends. I absolutely adore when brides become friends, or even when my friends become my brides!! Jennifer and Rob were to be wed in Mexico, but after the Swine Flu scare, they were forced to move there wedding to Seaside. I was so happy that I was available to shoot their wedding this past Friday. It was very sweet and intimate, and their friends and family were amazing. The wedding was on Coleman Beach in Seaside, and afterwards they had drinks at Bud and Ally's Pizza Bar. They continued from there to their reception at WaterColor. I recently did a Photo-shoot for a wedding magazine. Here are some images from the day :) I could not share them until the magazine hit shelves, but it just arrived, so here they are :) It was super fun shooting all these fabulous ladies!

While shooting for this magazine I met a new friend, Sara. We met at the photo-shoot and then a few days later I ran into her at the mall and we grabbed lunch. We have been hanging out & become good friends ever since! I love when God puts amazing people in my path! She is is a great person & I am so glad to have met her! She is the long brown headed girl on the 2nd picture below on the far left! I am so sad that she is moving away because she is one of the coolest girls I have met in Destin, but hopefully I will be taking her REAL wedding pictures one day :) enjoy!!

Josh | 100% FILM

In February I attended WPPI, a HUGE photography conference. When I was there, I got to hear two of my favorite photographers speak. They both are 100% film shooters. During their platform classes, BOTH of them gave me a roll of film. Elizabeth Messina gave me a pack of medium format film and Tanja Lippert gave me some Fuji 35mm film. As soon as I got my hand on that film I felt sooo inspired and drawn to start shooting film.

My studio is completely digital at the moment, but my hope is to start shooting portrait sessions and engagement sessions on film. I have a lot to learn before I start doing this, but I thought my first attempt using film came out pretty great! I squealed like a little girl when I got my prints back from the lab. The pictures below are straight "out of camera" as they say. There is absolutely no photoshop or any post processing work on them. I love keeping my digital files clean and simple with only minimal editing because I like the photos to truly represent what actually was happening that day and shooting with film makes the moment seem even more beautiful! Anyways here is Josh's portrait session that we did with a super old canon film camera that my mom bought when I was about 10. Photography FAQ's Answered: Part 1

I have been getting a lot of questions lately from photographers asking me questions, and one of those people begged me to blog some tips and tricks for all to see. Let me start off by saying that I am in no way saying that my way is the right way, but I will just share with you what has worked for me in the past, and what I have learned from other photographers in the industry. When I first started off in my photography business, it was blogs like these that really helped me hone my skills and define my style. If you have emailed me in the past, and I have not responded, please know that I will now just post some of the questions that way, people with some of the same questions, can just visit these posts and get some helpful tips!! :) I will focus on three q's at a time!

The first question is from Cassie, she writes..."I had a question for you - indoor lighting is the downfall of my husband and myself. We recently had a reception that was extremely low lit indoors and I was wondering what sort of settings/flash/equipment you use to capture exactly what you're seeing. I'm having a really difficult time learning that"

A: I am no expert at lighting but I will tell you who is...ZACK ARIAS....if you are a photographer and have not purchased his "One Light DVD", you need to. It will change the way you think about light! I learned so much from watching this video. At the reception, I have my assistant set up my off-camera lighting. It consists of an avenger light stand, and 580ex flash, a Westcott soft box and 2 pocket wizards. During the reception, I will use the soft box for a more elegant look, used in the first dance ext, and then when the fun dancing starts, I will pop off the soft-box for a little while and turn the light to the dance floor to get some fun light flair. Another great resource is Strobist.

The second question comes from Aubry, She writes...."my equipment needs some serious updating, and I am wanting to purchase some new stuff within the next week or two. Therefore, I am hoping and praying that you could possibly gear me in the right direction - because I am overwhelmed, haha. I currently have a Canon E0S 10D. The only lenses I have is the one that came with the camera and a 100mm Macro lens. Should I upgrade the camera? If so, what should I get? And can you recommend some awesome lenses, filters, anything? Basically, "what's in your bag"?

A: I would consider updating your camera. I shoot with the 5D Mark 2. It is an amazing camera and can really increase the quality of your work. However, having good lenses is just as important in my opinion as having a good camera. Here are some of the lenses in my bag that I would totally recommend. Canon 24 2.8, 50 1.2, 85 1.8,100 Macro.

The third question comes from Tara, she writes.... "What advice would you give me on how to get started? How to advertise myself? "

A: When I got started in photography, I started second shooting with other photographers and doing anything I could to help them. I also started shooting friends, family or just anyone or anything that I could get in front of my camera. I started blogging about the shoots I was doing, and then started getting people emailing me to BOOK photo-shoots!! I have paid for advertising on a national website, but have seen very little return on investment. I would just encourage you to meet with local vendors in your area. 90% off my bookings come from Vendor referrals and I do everything in my power to take care of the vendors I work with. Pay it Forward is my policy :)

Debbie and Jonathan | Married

Debbie and Jonathan had perfect wedding day! The sun was shining and it was beautiful outside! I had such a great time getting to know Debbie though out her wedding planning stage. She is in LOVE with shoes and being around her just makes you want to smile real big. There wedding day was perfect, and it was great to be apart of the most special day in their lives.

I adored how at the reception, each table had a number. Debbie named each table after something special to her and Jonathan. The Crimson Tide table was my favorite!! Debbie and Jonathan actually met at an Alabama game (Roll Tide!!). She asked him what time the game started, and the rest is history!! All of their family and friends traveled in from near and far to celebrate their most special day, and I was honored to be their to capture it.

I also was so excited that Cassidy Dawn, all the way from OHIO! Yes that is right, OHIO!! came down to be my second shooter for the wedding. She is fabulous, and Josh and I enjoyed getting to know her.

Gulf Coast Wedding Photographers Luncheon

Each month I put on a luncheon for local photographers to get together and mingle and meet!! This past meeting we had about 20 people there! It was fantastic but the bigger our group gets the more I relaize how hard it is to get to know people. Put 20 artisit in a room and you can feel the engery & boy are we loud!! So starting next month the first 12 photographers who RSVP will be allowed until we figure out another solution but it is has been a great thing and we are so excited that so many people are wanting to join us! Here is a picture of last week's group minus a bunch of really cool people. We ate the restaurant FIRE and boy was it awesome! I had a buffalo burger (without the bun of course) and it was amazing!!

As many of you know, I have been working hard on a new website probably since Christmas! I am so excited to finally have it launched! I have been nervous and excited about it because I designed and did all the back-end work myself using a fabulous software called Showit Sites. My old website was created by my husband, and it was fabulous, but I wanted something where I could do the work all myself and upload new shoots quickly to my website as well as my blog! Showit Sites made it possible! :) All my thanks goes out to David Jay who is constantly out to make photographers life just a little easier! He is an amazing person and I am just so thankful he and his team developed this amazing software :) I hope all of you enjoy looking around my new site, it definitely is my labor of love! Chenoa and Josh had a beautiful wedding this past Saturday at Seaside ! I was so honored to photograph their wedding day! Chenoa is one stylish chick, and has the most fabulous girlfriends in the world. I has a blast getting to know them!! Josh and Chenoa met in Texas and fell madly in love. They are such a awesome couple & It was so amazing listening to all the wonderful things that their friends and family had to say about them at the Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding. They have a huge group of loving people beside them and that is the best thing in the world!! Congratulations Chenoa and Josh, and I am so jealous of your month in Europe!! This morning I sat down and opened up my twitter account trying to think of some funny prank I could pull on all my followers and friends! I love silly pranks, but absolutely nothing came to me! I mean, I thought about so many things like saying.... "Josh just got my face tattooed on his arm." "I was just chosen to be on Deal or No Deal" I even thought of, "Josh and I are having a baby!!" but for some reason I just could not think of a good prank to pull. They all seemed to lack originality and humor. So I decided, instead of telling you some fabricated story, I will tell you a few TRUE events that have happened in my day....

1) This morning Sophie (my yorkie-poo) ate the remains of the banana I had for breakfast and then threw it up. Three times! Yeah... it happened.

2) My Dad called me (and even knowing it was April 1st, I still did not catch on) and told me he was at Regency Mall and there was a riot and he was hiding in a shoe store closet... I was freaking out and he goes oh my gosh there coming in!!! I Screamed! and then he said, "April Fools"!!!

3) After the trauma, I opened my blog reader to find the sweetest thing ever! My fabulous, friend Jami who has an amazing blog about fashion and living the life on the beach, wrote THE SWEETEST little entry about me! I had no idea she was going to do so, and I am so excited to shoot her sisters Wedding in May! Check out her blog here and stay a while.....she has wonderful tips on fashion, the latest trends, and a bunch of other fun stuff!

4) I booked a wedding today from a fabulous couple in Houston Texas. Excited about their wedding at WaterColor.

5) I worked on some accounting things and plainfuly finished my taxes! Praise him!!

6) I went to the gym and pumped some Iron!! :) If you follow me on Twitter, you heard my excitment about losing 7 pounds so far! Ahhhh sooo excited about that! And if you are not following me on twitter....why not???

7) I watched Project Runway episodes while I edited a wedding!

8) After the gym, Shannon called me to pull another prank on me, and told me she ran over a dog.... WHY PEOPLE! Why must you play tricks on me!

I had a pretty awesome April Fools day in my opinion, but everyday where I am sounded by my loving dogs, working my dream job, and being married to the most precious man alive is a pretty awesome day!

I hope you had a fabulous day as well. I would love if you would leave me your best April fools prank. I am in need of a good laugh!! Holla!!

Jennifer and Daniel {married}

Daniel and Jennifer met on a blind date. Their friend Kim, who Daniel goes to church with, played matchmaker & what a great job she did! Daniel and Jennifer are perfect for each other and the love that these two share is so rare and sweet. The way Daniel looks at Jennifer just makes your heart melt!

Daniel and Jennifer knew that they were meant to be together & on her birthday, July 10, Daniel brought her to Destin & asked her to be his wife as the sun rose over the beach. It was only natural for these two to get married in Destin! 50 of their closest friends traveled all the way from Nashville to be a part of their magical destination wedding. They choose to get married at the beautiful Santa Rosa Beach Club, it was the most perfect location for them to be joined together in marriage.

I was so honored to be able to capture their wedding and celebrate with Jennifer, Daniel and all their friends and family! I wish you two the best and I hope you have a fabulous time on your Carnival cruise to the Caribbean. Destin won't be the same with out you! Come back soon!

They are so stinking cute! They have this little thing they do where they say "I love you thiiis muccch" and they stretch out there arms! So this is sooo appropriate!! :)

Redeeming Love and Constructions Sites

Reading is something that I love to do. I get that from my Mother. Growing up, I remember sitting by the pool, watching my mom rip a part a 300 page book like it was nothing. Slowly but surely, my love for books grew, and I love nothing more than getting lost in a good book.

For Christmas, Josh and I went to visit my family in Jacksonville. The room that we stayed in has a big book shelf full of books and often times I go up to that room just to search through her new additions of books and pick out ones that I want to take home and read. I know if momma reads them, and they make it to that particluar book shelf, they have something in them that is rich and powerful.

The day after Christmas, my fingers lightly grazed the spines of many books, searching for the one that I could get lost in...when there it was. Little did I know, this book called Redeeming Love, would completely change and rock my world forever. I read the whole thing in one day. I could not put it down. It captivated me and made me understand truly how deep and how wide God's love is for us. I encourage you to pick up this book and read it. My darling sister who doesn't like to read much, loved it and could not put it down either. I know that if you trust my recommendation you will feel, captivated, encouraged, and lucky. Once you read this book, I know a bunch of you will send me a box of cookies cause you loved it that much! :) *wink*

My prayer for you today (yes I pray for my blog readers!!) is found in Psalm 20, " May God give you the desire of your heart & make all your plans succeed."

On a totally different note, I wanted to share a couple of photos from a commercial shoot that I did for a company called EMR. EMR "is a leading provider of professional and technical services in the fields of engineering, construction and the environment." I was asked to take a few pictures for a brochure they made for their company, and although it is far cry from my normal wedding work, I had a fun time running around one of their construction sites to shoot some of their employees.

For some reason St. Patty's Day is a holiday that make's me so happy! Maybe it's all the green people wear, it is certainly not the pinching! If fact I hate to be pinched! I just find I wake up smiling and giggling on St. Patrick's day! It's just one of the holidays I love! If you follow me on twitter you know that last night I decided that today on March 17th, I would start my workout routine! I have said it so many times before, but I am feeling the Irish luck today and feel like I can keep it up! My sister and I are even going to run on the beach later on today. Hopefully some of y'all can keep me accountable and check up on me asking me how my working out is going! I will keep you posted but today I feel lucky !! I can do it!! Anyways I hope you all have fun wrapped up in your green clothing, singing your irish songs, loving every minute of Saint Patrick's Day!!

Last Day in Laguna!

Wednesday was our last full day in Orange County! It was bitter sweet- on one hand I was super excited to go home and see Josh, but then a part of me was super bummed to leave my new friends, Jamie and Misty! We had such a fabulous time getting to know each other. I was super excited that on our last day there, we had an impromptu photo-shoot in Laguna! I immediately suggested H&M for a new outfit. It was Misty's first time! H&M is a great store when you need something fabulous at a cheap price. I felt in love with H&M when I lived in England, it was pretty much all I could afford with the exchange rate!

After trying on many different outfits, I decide on a pretty natural color shirt with ruffles, and a flower hair piece to go in my hair! I love pretending I am a earth child and go for things natural and pretty! I think I might have even said to Jamie at starbucks, "I love drinking green tea because I feel like the earth"! LOL, I say the most random things! Anyways, back to the shoot.... After picking our our outfits we headed down to Laguna and we found a pretty little area to shoot in that happened to be Laguna College of Art and Design. How appropriate! We shot for a little while and then headed to The Cliff for our farewell dinner in Laguna! It was so awesome! We sat next to heaters and they brought us blankets to snuggle in while we looked over the ocean and had dinner.

Las Vegas Engagement Shoot Video

Jasmine Star Workshop + Brittany & Zach

We started promptly at 9am and were met with Jasmine's + JD's warm smile and big hugs. The workshop was perfect. The food was yummy and the things Jasmine taught were exactly what I was needing to hear. She went over 8 aspects of branding your business, and she gave me so many tips, tricks and ideas that I am excited to put to use!

After lunch we headed out for the shoot portion of our workshop. I was so excited to see that Brittany and Zach, who I shot in Vegas a few weeks ago, were our models for the photo shoot. Brittany looked fabulous with her 40's due and bright red lipstick, and Zach looked fierce in his black pinstriped suite, accented with his green shirt and chucks. The great thing about Brittany and Zach is that even when we were not shooting, they were hugging and kissing and being so affection to one another. They are so in love its completely obvious. :) I love couples like that! Jasmine and David Jay are shooting their wedding in October, I can't wait to see the photos!

After the shoot, we headed back to the workshop to go through our pictures and hear Jasmine's Photoshop tips. Afterwards, we went out to eat at Magginaos with Jasmine + JD and some of the other workshop attendees. It was so much fun. Jasmine is hilarious and totally called me out about my plastic baggy holding my business cards. I swear it was my replenish bag and not what I normally carry them in, lol!! It was mostly just a fun environment where we got to know each other better and we sat around and laughed like a big family. If you are a photographer looking for a good workshop to go to, I highly recommend Jasmine's Workshop. You will not only love her, but love the fresh ideas she has about branding and the photography industry.

Day Two: Santa Barbra

We woke up early, faced some light LA traffic, and found ourself on a road trip. Santa Barbara was our destination...meeting with some friends and having lunch was our agenda.

On the way to Santa Barbara, we drove through Hollywood. Santa Barbara is about 1.5 hours north. I tried to take a picture of the infamous Hollywood sign to put up on my blog, but I didn't get my camera out fast enough! Total Bummer. I am such a tourist. I get so excited when I see things in person that I have only seen on TV !!

When we finally made it to SB after our 2 hour journey Misty, Jamie and I met some fellow photography friends, Janelle Stephanie and Kristin Renee and their friend Katherine who was visiting from The Sunshine Coast of Australia, for lunch. We ate at a fabulous Italian restaurant called Pascucci and afterwards we walked around Paseo Nuevo for some afternoon shopping. We didn't buy much, instead we had a fun impromptu photo shoot in the the middle of the shopping centre.

After we said our goodbyes to Janelle, Katherine and Kristin, we headed over to a new friend of mine, David Jay's house. I met DJ in Vegas and he kindly offered for us to come over and visit while we were in town. DJ has done many wonderful things for the photography industry, but besides all of that, he has a great heart and is an awesome person. We all had such a great time and man, the view from his house is amazing. I told him if I lived there I would never ever get any work done because it is so peaceful and relaxing.

This is actually down the street below where he lives, so his view is even better than this!!

DJ and I played a game of foos ball. It was fun and I would tell you who won, but a certain somebody told me DJ is a competitive person, and probably wouldn't like everyone to know he got whooped by a girl. Opps did I just give it away? Humph.

After we left DJ's house. Jamie, Misty and I went and had dinner at Los Arryos. A popular Mexican restaurant DJ recommend to us in Montecito It was really nice and again fell in love with another City. We had so many laughs along the way and boy oh boy it was super fun day.

Day One: Laguna Beach

Misty and I met for the first time at the Houston airport for our connection flight to Orange County. We had sub sandwiches and sipped on cola as we waited for our flight to board. During that one hour period we completely connected and hit it off. Almost how it feels with a friend that you have not seen for a long time and are just catching up on where you left off. Shortly into our flight Misty learned that flying was totally not my thing. When I get a little nervous, I seem to make this really funny sound, laldaladalda, while covering my ears. It is quite embarrassing but the one thing I have learned this trip as that you learn a lot about a person when you travel with them.

I learned that Misty is a loving human being, a goofball at heart and is the sweetest mom on the planet. I learned that sometimes God uses situations that stretch us, to bring great people into our life.

Driving around Orange County for the first time that afternoon was amazing. I was in love with the crooked trees everywhere, the tall rolling hills, and the cute bunny rabbits that seem to infest the area. Sound like heaven right? It was. I feel in love with a city.

After dropping off our things at our hotel, Misty and I drove down to Laguna Beach and had a fabulous Barbeque chicken Pizza from BJ's and then drove by Lauren Conrads old house in Laguna like true tourist do. We sat on the beach, watched the dancing fire men illuminate the sand, laughed a whole lot and if it couldn't get any better, well it did. At 9pm we drove to the airport to pick up Jamie, our little Canadianite. (She is from Vancouver)

I learned that Jamie is full of love, laugh's in her sleep (yes it is a fact) , and loves the lord with all her heart. I learned that God places people in your life that make you smile and who you can be yourself around. What a blessing to have.

My trip to California was a trip I will never forget, I made friends that I will have forever, and made memories that will keep me smiling for sometime now. I will be posting about the rest of my time in California for the next few days because it was just that awesome!!

Destin Photography Lunch # 2

Tuesday we had our monthly photography lunch in Destin. We had 10 fabulous photographers show up and we had a great time talking for over 2 hours! I have been traveling a lot lately. That is just one of the many perks of being in the photography industry. My camera brings me all over the place, and being a person who loves to travel, it works out great. Sunday, I fly out to California for Jasmine Star's Workshop. I met her in Vegas and she truly has the sweetest spirit. Her and her husband JD could not be any cuter together and I am looking forward to learning some new things from her. I am also looking forward to a fun road trip with my roomies, Misty Johnson and Jamie Delaine. We rented a car, and who knows where it will take us!! Anyways, I will be out of the office all next week, so I will be getting to emails as soon as I find out the internet situation :)

Neon Boneyard Shoot | Las Vegas

Hello Blog Readers! This is my last post from Vegas. Sad Face. I had such an amazing time, I can't get over all the fun memories from Vegas and all the wonderful photographers I met.

Brittany + Zach | engaged

While I was in Vegas a bunch of photographers hit up Vegas for a night engagement shoot with Brittany and Zach. We all had a great time shooting and walking around the city! After the shoot, we all went out to eat and had a good time getting to know each other. Brittany is actually a wonderful photographer you can check out her blog here. I love opportunities to shoot with other photographers and I have another fun shoot I will posting soon from the Neon Graveyard :) This shoot I was inspired to challenge myself a little and I challenge you to try this some time as well. While at WPPI, Elizabeth Messina challenged us not to look at the back of the camera to make sure our exposure was right and that we liked the images, but to do what we felt. I admit I peeked a few times, but I definitely challenged myself to not check out each photo. It felt liberating. She also truly inspired me to start shooting film for personal things and she actually gave me my first roll of medium format film. As a photographer she is one person who truly inspires me and who's work literally takes my breath away.

Anyways, I have some awesome things coming up ahead, some amazing weddings, a fashion session, and I am getting ready for a photo-shoot tomorrow for an awesome magazine. I was chosen to shoot the cover and the issue is coming out this summer, how awesome is that? I will let you know all the details as soon as I can. I am Back from Vegas!!

I had such a wonderful time at WPPI in Las Vegas. If you are a photographer and have not been to WPPI yet, mark your calendar to join all of us next year, March 4-11, 2010. If you are a client, WPPI is the largest photography convention in the world. Photographers from all of the world fly in for a week of networking, classes and for an amazing trade-show where we can check out the latest and greatest equipment and products. I always like to have the best of the best for my clients. I am so excited to find my new album company that truly reflects my work and displays your images with such beauty and elegance.

I also had a wonderful time getting to meet some of the most inspiring photographers in the photography industry. I attended Platform classes to learn from the best, went to a Bible study hosted by David Jay, and had a couple of photo shoots in Vegas that I will be sharing very soon. Thank you to all my clients who have been so patient with me in getting back to my emails. When I go out of town it gets a little tricky trying to keep up with all the emails I get daily, but tomorrow I will catch up!! I wanted to share a few photos of the beautiful city and I promise to post more later this week. The first two are from a shoot I had a the Neon Graveyard, and the last two are from a night shoot. Oh and one more thing, the wonderful, and I mean WONDERFUL fellas at Showit helped me big time this week putting the final touches on my new website. I will be releasing all the details soon as to when my little labor of love will be launched so stay tuned!!!

This is my last name and I have had the idea for a while to do something like this for my kitchen art! Love it!!!

Jennifer and Michael | engaged

So, this past Saturday after I hit up Seaside's fabulous Yard Sale, I finally got to meet Jennifer and Michael. They are seriously awesome and we hit it off right away. I love when clients become friends because capturing their personality and the things that are important to them is so much easier when you create a relationship. We chose the location of Watercolor for their engagement session due to the fact that Seaside was crawling with yardsalers. Josh and I had such a wonderful time getting to know them both and we really look forward to photographing their wedding in May. Hello Friends! Friday Night, Josh, our buddy Matt and I headed to Panama City to watch our good friends in South For the Winter play at The Bridge. We had a great time and they asked me to take a couple of picture of them preforming and I will be doing some promo shots for them in the next few weeks. Oh for the love of Bananas!!!

If you follow me on Twitter, you would know that a couple of nights ago my husband brought me home one of my favorite things in the entire world - Something so great that if I met the man or woman who created this particular item, I would give him them biggest hug and probably start to babble + cry about how wonderful their creation was. What is it you ask?? Josh brought me not one, not two, not even three boxes, but NINE boxes of Runts!!! Oh just thinking about it gives my taste buds a whirlwind.

If I told you how much I loved my husband, you would never truly understand or grasp how deep my love is for him. He is such an amazing guy. He is sweet, caring, brave, attentive and has an amazing heart for the Lord. He does the sweetest things for me.
Runts are super hard to find around these parts, so when he found them, he bought all they had! I mean what a little angel!!

My favorite surprise was during christmas... he said mander I have you a prize. I love when he brings me home "prizes". I was like awesome! He pulled out a box of runts and said open it there is something really special inside. At this point I am thinking, diamonds, a bracelet, some type of jewelry? He says, " just dump them all out so you can see what is inside". So I did, to find no diamonds, no David Yurman bracelet, just runts. Hmph. I was like, hunny what on earth are you talking about. He pointed out very quickly that the box only contained hearts and bananas which are the only flavors I eat! Come on how romantic is that? He picked up three boxes, took out all the gross runts and filled my box with the two flavors I love. OH for the love of bananas, he is so good to me, and it is in the little things that reminds me of how much he loves me and how he loves to see me smile!

Destin Photographers Lunch

I had a wonderful time yesterday at our first ever Destin Photographers lunch. We had a super fabulous time and I got to hang out with some of the most amazing photographer's around the area. We are going to be meeting once a month so if you are a photographer in the area, email me at amanda@amandasuanne.com to get on the "list". We talk about everything from cloth dippers, traveling "out of the world", to lighting rigs and sometimes you will even see me laugh like this......... wow :)

Hi everyone, meet Karli, the fun, sweet, sassy, intellectual, senior! We chose the old town of Freeport for her shoot and seriously I think every car that passed us gave us the good ole' honk! We lost count after 32. Karli pulled out her inner diva for this shoot, I mean seriously, she rocked it out! Make up was done by the fabulous Linda Boswell, who is a make up goddess. Fernanda + Jorge | married

Fernanda and Jorge got married in Atlanta on November 15th and the day was beautiful. Their love could not be more real, more beautiful, or more inspiring. I was so honored to photograph this special day in their life and have been so grateful of the friendship that has blossomed with Fernanda. She is so precious and I officially love her forever for introducing me to Twilight! After their wedding Fernanda and Jorge escaped to one of my favorite cities in the world, Rome. jealous? Yes, me to. And another crazy fact is Nelly was staying at the Four Seasons and we saw him walk by while we were taking pictures, so this was star studded affair :)

7 Random things and a quick story!

Meeting other people in the wedding industry is something that I love to do! On Wednesday, Samantha Jackson put on a fabulous event in Destin for local wedding professionals to meet and network. A part of the reason I love meeting other vendors is having resources for my brides on all things weddings. I want my brides to have the best of everything!! In a couple of days for the first time on Amandasuanne.com I am going to be releasing my little black book of preferred vendors. So stay tuned for that! We are also working on revamping out website and blog - check out the new header!

Anyways back to the meeting....on my way there I said a simple but heart felt prayer... Lord, let me meet some amazing people, make a new friend and let me have a good time! Boy, did he answer my prayer!! I met sooo many amazing people who I look forward to working with soon. It was also cool because I had been planning on going to Vegas in February for a photography conference but I was not looking forward to traveling alone, and at the meeting I met Leslie!! She is fabulous and now we are traveling together and will having lots of fun in Vegas!! I love how God always answers our prayers better than we could have ever expected! For all you photographers, I hope to see you at WPPI!

Leslie also tagged me yesterday on her blog and I have to give 7 random facts about me...... so here it goes.

1. I graduated high school when I was 16.
2. I LOOOVE shoes and would love to have my own collection one day. I sketch shoe designs in my spare time :)
3. Josh (my hubby) told me he loved me 12 days after we met, in a consignment shop parking lot.
4. I have had tea in the Mayor of Bath's parlor.
5. I absolutely love to read!
6. I sing, play the piano and guitar, and Josh is teaching me how to play the drums - he says I have "potential" :)
7. Runts are my favorite candy, but I only eat the hearts and the bananas.
